CCS TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS

CCS Tournaments are designed to provide fair, competitive, and enjoyable badminton experiences for players of all levels.
Our Flight System emphasizes meaningful competition, transparent organization, and continuous innovation. These regulations are intended to provide a consistent tournament experience while allowing flexibility to ensure fair and competitive play.

1. Scope
These Regulations apply to all tournaments organized by CCS Tournaments Foundation, unless otherwise stated in the official Tournament Information Package for a specific event.
The Tournament Information Package may specify event-specific details including, but not limited to:

Where a Tournament Information Package differs from these Regulations, the Tournament Information Package shall prevail.
These Regulations apply to all tournaments organized by CCS Tournaments Foundation, unless otherwise stated in the official Tournament Information Package for a specific event.

2. Eligibility2.1 General Eligibility
Eligibility requirements for each tournament will be stated in the Tournament Information Package.
Unless otherwise specified:
CCS tournaments are Open events.Participants must meet the published minimum age requirement.Players participate at their own risk.2.2 Ranking Points
Where applicable, athletes holding a valid Badminton Ontario membership may receive Ontario Open Ranking Points in accordance with Badminton Ontario policies.
Eligibility requirements for each tournament will be stated in the Tournament Information Package.

3. Registration3.1 Registration
Registration procedures, deadlines, entry fees, and payment instructions will be published in the Tournament Information Package.
Registration is not considered complete until payment has been received.
3.2 Waitlist
CCS may establish waitlists when events reach capacity.
Acceptance from the waitlist will be determined by the Tournament Director.
3.3 Withdrawals
Withdrawal and refund policies will be published for each tournament. Any withdrawal request submitted by one member of a doubles team will be treated as a withdrawal request on behalf of the team. If only one player intends to withdraw and the remaining player wishes to continue with a replacement partner, this must be clearly stated in the withdrawal request. All partner replacements are subject to approval by the tournament organizer and are not automatically guaranteed.

Initial draws are prepared using the best competitive information available, including:

Club separation may be considered where practical.
Draws will normally be published before the tournament for public review.
Players are encouraged to report obvious errors before draws are finalized.

5. Competition Format
5.1 Flight PhilosophyCCS tournaments use a Flighted Competition System designed to maximize meaningful competition while maintaining competitive balance across different playing levels.Unlike traditional Main Draw + Consolation Draw formats, all players begin in the same draw.Players progress into A, B, or C Flight based on their match results.
5.2 A FlightPlayers who continue winning remain in the A Flight.The A Flight determines the overall tournament champion.
5.3 B FlightThe B Flight is intended for players whose competitive level falls between the A and C Flights.Depending on the tournament format, players generally qualify for the B Flight by:losing their second match in the A Flight; orlosing their opening match but winning their B Qualification match. 5.4 C FlightPlayers who lose both their opening match and their B Qualification match will normally enter the C Flight.The C Flight provides additional meaningful competition among players of similar playing ability.
5.5 Competitive BalanceThe purpose of the CCS Flight System is not simply to maximize the number of matches, but to provide meaningful competition against opponents of comparable playing ability.In smaller draws, Quarterfinalists or Semifinalists from the A Flight may not automatically enter the B Flight if doing so would significantly affect the competitive balance of that flight. In these situations, the Tournament Director may instead:organize an A Flight Consolation match;provide additional prize money or recognition; ormake other adjustments considered appropriate.
The Tournament Director's decision is final.

6. Match Rules
6.1 Laws of BadmintonUnless otherwise stated, all matches shall be played in accordance with the current BWF Laws of Badminton.This includes service rules, scoring, faults, lets, player conduct, and all other applicable Laws of Badminton.

6.3 Player-Officiated MatchesCCS tournaments are player-officiated.Umpires and line judges are not normally assigned. 9. Coaching
Coaching is permitted only when the shuttle is not in play.Coaches and spectators shall not interfere with the progress of a match.

10. Sportsmanship
Participants are expected to demonstrate respect toward:opponentstournament staffvolunteersspectators
Unsportsmanlike conduct—including abusive language, intimidation, deliberate cheating, or inappropriate behaviour—may result in warnings, default, or removal from the tournament.

11. PhotographyBy entering a CCS tournament, participants consent to photography and video recording for promotional purposes unless otherwise requested in writing.
12. Tournament Director Authority
The Tournament Director reserves the right to modify:scheduling;draw structures;flight progression;scoring formats;prize distribution; andother operational matters,
where necessary to ensure the successful operation of the tournament.All decisions made by the Tournament Director are final.
